Protect Your Twins From the Flu
Your twins are wallowing in misery because they caught that nasty flu bug that’s been going around. And after spending sleepless nights nursing them back to health, your kids return the favor by passing the flu bug on to you.
The best way to prevent this scenario is by taking measures to prevent your twins from getting influenza in the first place. While nothing is guaranteed, there are some things you can do to try to prevent your multiples from catching the flu.
- Encourage your twins to practice frequent hand-washing (particularly before they eat).
- Provide your twins with a nutritious diet, plenty of exercise, and make sure they get enough rest. Doing this will keep your kids’ immune systems strong.
- Kids should cough and sneeze in a tissue, and throw it away immediately after it is used.
- Encourage your twins to keep their fingers out of their mouths, noses, and eyes as germs are frequently spread this way.
- Keep your children away from sick people.
- Take your twins to get an annual flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends children ages six months up to their 19th birthday get an annual flu shot.
Taking a few preventive measures now may keep your twins from suffering the ill effects of the flu later.
