Reducing the Cost of Christmas with Twins
I can’t speak for anyone else, but this will be the most financially challenged Christmas I’ve had in a long time. Last year my children weren’t old enough to get into the whole Christmas hoopla; but this year I really wanted to see their faces beam when they ripped the wrapping paper off all the wonderful presents I planned on buying them.
Don’t get me wrong, teaching my twins the true meaning of Christmas is top priority; but I’d be telling a big fat lie if I said I didn’t want to shower them with a bunch of useless gifts. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out the way I planned this year — so I had to revamp my holiday list to make it more affordable.
- My twins will only get one tricycle this year, so they’ll have to share.
- I’ll buy a lot of stocking stuffers (coloring books, crayons, story books, small teddy bears and such).
- My Christmas tree will be a lot shorter, much thinner, and have fewer decorations on it.
- I’m forced to cook my own holiday dinner instead of paying someone to do it for me (Yuck!).
- My kids won’t be getting a pretend kitchen set or a television for their playroom.
- I’ll be buying more of what my kids need and less of what they want.
- I won’t be purchasing any goodies for myself this year.

Who knows, maybe I’ll get to shower my multiples with lavish gifts next holiday season.
